Ewe feeding

Ewes are pastured year round except in extreme winter weather when deep snow prevents grazing. Late pregnant and lactating ewes are fed a total mixed ration or high quality hay supplemented with grain.

Lamb feeding

Lambs receive milk from ewes until weaned between 40 and 70 days of age. Artificially-reared lambs are weaned at about 30 days of age. If lambs are in a barn prior to weaning, creep feed is provided. After weaning, all lambs are fed a high-energy diet until marketed or until they enter the breeding flock.

Salt supplement

Trace mineralized sheep salt is provided to all sheep in either a complete mixed diet or in a salt feeder.
