Northeast Sheep and Goat Genetics Alliance

Sheep and goat breeders in the New England states, as well as New York and New Jersey have banded together with one goal; to offer the very best semen and live animals to buyers locally, nationally, and worldwide. The Alliance sheep standards for "best" include genetically sound animals free of spider syndrome and other inherited problems for which there is a test.

Sheep sold under the Alliance standard will also be clean of common communicable diseases such as OPP and they will have performance records.  All flocks, whether sheep or goats that belong to the Alliance, are on the Scrapie Certification Program, and several have reached Certified status.

Alliance members represent many different breeds of sheep and all production systems, from purebred seed stock breeders, to commercial operations. The unifying element with these diverse groups is an interest and commitment to healthy, productive animals that will perform as expected.

This summer, Alliance members will be hosting a seminar that will reflect their standards of health and production. Noted speakers have already been engaged. As more information about the seminar is available, it will be posted here.
