Stillmeadow Finnsheep

Septuplets born 24 March 2001

" Snobird," a triplet purebred 4-year-old Finnsheep with her septuplet lambs two hours after they were born on 24 March 2001.  The sire of the septuplets was "Boaz", SMF 13, a registered twin Finn Piebald (hence the spotted lambs) from Stoney Meadow Farm in MA.

Snobird was bred at Stillmeadow farm by Larry & Elizabeth Luke, DeRuyter, NY (315-852-3344).  Snowbird's dam was Cornell #1799, "Lorelei," a quadruplet Finn bottle lamb from Cornell University.  Snobird's sire was "Cheningo," UPI 9410 F, a registered, grey, fall-born, quadruplet bred by Clifford Hatch  at Uppingil Farm in MA.  Snobird has had litters of 3, 5, 6, and 7 live lambs.

The collective birth weight of the septuplets was 34.5 lb and they weighed 73 lb at two weeks of age.  All the lambs have remained with Snobird and been given supplemental milk replacer twice daily.  By 11 April 2001, only three of the seven were being supplemented.
