Internship at the Cornell Sheep Farm

The Cornell Sheep Program provides opportunities for a few individuals to do unpaid internships at the Cornell Teaching & Research Center Sheep Farm each year. Each internship should be one or more STAR periods (73 days) long to provide the experiences of managing ewes and lambs during lambing season, mixing feed and feeding lambs and ewes, setting up and taking down portable electric fence (May through January or February), moving sheep, monitoring health and treating sick animals, and keeping records. Interns will help to carry out research and, in some cases, may be able to design and carry out their own projects.

Living space often is available for minimal cost in a four-bedroom apartment-like dormitory at the Cornell Teaching & Research Center headquarters building, just a mile from the Cornell Sheep Farm barns.

To apply, please send a resume and contact information for three professional references to Dr. Mike Thonney at mlt2@cornell.edu.
